FAQ

Good questions are welcome.

Here are short answers to the questions people ask first. State rules can vary, so use the state directory for the final word on your case.

Who is this for?+

Track 80 is for adults ages 19–64 who have Medicaid and may need to show monthly activity. The rule does not apply to every person or every state.

What are the 80 hours?+

Some adults may need to show 80 hours of work, school, training, or volunteering each month.

Can income count instead?+

In some cases, an income option may count. The current amount shown is $580 a month. Ask your state if it applies to you.

What activities may count?+

Work, school, workforce training, vocational training, educational activities, and volunteering may count when your state accepts them.

What does not count?+

Activities your state does not accept will not count. We do not guess. Check your state rules before you rely on an activity.

How does reporting work?+

You log your hours. We review the record and send a report each month showing what was logged and checked.

What is the 6-month recheck?+

Your state may look at your status again every 6 months. Keeping your record up to date can make that review easier.

Who may be exempt?+

Parents, guardians, caretakers or family caregivers of a dependent child age 13 or younger, or of a disabled individual; pregnant and postpartum people; people who are medically frail; people age 65 and older; and other groups may be exempt. Other groups vary by state.

Is my information private?+

We collect only what we need for the tracker and support. We never ask for passwords, bank account numbers, or Social Security numbers. Read our privacy page for more.

Can you tell me what my state will do?+

We can help you keep a record, but we cannot decide what applies to your case. Contact your state Medicaid office for that answer.

Do you give legal or insurance advice?+

No. We are not lawyers and we do not give legal or insurance advice.

How do I start?+

Use the free sign-up form. Tell us your state and whether you want the free tracker.

Still not sure?

Check your state Medicaid office for case-specific answers.
